Description
The thermistor motor protection module is a monitoring module,
which in conjunction with PTC thermistors effectively protects electrical
machines against thermal overload.
The thermistors, which are integrated into the winding overhang by motor
vehicle manufacturers, react with a rise of temperature with exponentially
increasing resistance. On exceeding the threshold values specified in the
technical data, a contactor is operated via the relay output of the MTMS, which
isolates the machine from the supply.
After cooling down, the motor starts automatically. The module works on the
closed-circuit principle, so that the measuring circuit is monitored for open
circuits.
