| It has been found that extended use of
HIOKIs Electronic Non-Contact Meter Relays (namely Models 2101 and 2102)
over many years will cause the sealing compound that provides insulation
protection over the level adjustment knob to naturally wear off. Depending on
the usage conditions, instrument safety may be compromised. |
 |
| All new meter relays shipped from May
6, 2003, have been incorporated with new parts to prevent this from occurring.
However, for those customers who are currently using meter relays that were
shipped before May 2003, we kindly ask that you conduct the following safety
inspections to ensure that your instruments can be safely utilized. |
 |
| 1. |
Visually check the adjustment level knob(s)
| a. |
If the knob(s) appears to
be damaged or cracked, please contact your nearest HIOKI distributor to have
your instrument repaired immediately. |
 |
| b. |
Check to see that the
sealing compound has not bee removed from the knob. As shown below, if the
sealing compound is attached, you can safely use the instrument. |

 |
| c. |
If the sealing compound
appears to have separated, you should be able to see the fixing screw. In this
case, please arrange to have the instrument repaired. |
|
 |
| 2. |
In new units, knob covers will be used to prevent
the sealing compound from detaching, as shown below.
